Week 7 MAYA RIGGING

In this lesson we learned how to bind bones to a model so that we can animate it. First we learnt what an articulated skeleton is, how to create one and learned about the clumping relationships of articulated skeletons. We then bound the skeleton to the model. Finally we learnt how to draw the weights of a skin. This session was one that required patience for us. We should start by making a simple expression of a raised head to give us a reference for when we draw the skin. Drawing the skin is a great test of skill and patience. I have been working on this for a long time.

Week 6: Behind the Scenes: Head 2

In this lesson we first learned how to use the uv editor. Use the various tailoring tools in the uv editor to match the uv to the map. This is the first time for me to edit such a complex model, which is a big challenge for me. I spent a lot of time working on it after class because I never got it right. Because my model has too many faces and is asymmetrical. My classmate suggested me to make a new model with fewer faces and symmetry.

Week 6: Behind the Scenes: Color test

In the color adjustment of the picture, I used ColorCorrect and Grade to adjust the value of the RGB channel of the picture. My intention was to let the backlit environment of the background affect the color of the plane. I also increased the exposure intensity and lowered the saturation to make the sunset/sunrise in the background more visible and beautiful.

Week 5 Nuke Homework

In this lesson, we continue to learn the function of roto in depth. Using roto and premult together, we can turn the deducted object into a separate one. This week, through the hot-air balloon operation, I have a clearer understanding of nuke’s nodal style and layer application. This assignment was completed by my own understanding. I transformed the elements into three different layers, applied roto and premult, and then used transform to make the animation of mountain disappearing and the animation of hot air balloon moving. Finally merge synthesis.

Week 5: Behind the Scenes: Head Quad Draw

This week, we use a basic scanning model of the face, using quadrilateral rendering to generate our own face based on the appropriate topological layout. We start topologically with the eyes, then expand by the quadrilateral until we have covered half of the face. Because of magnetism, every point we create will be attached to the original model. It was very difficult for me, especially when making ears. I often get node links wrong. Because I often link triangles or pentagons. Because each time there was a different error, I repeated the model many times. Fortunately for this model, we only do half of it and then mirror it later, which makes a lot of sense in terms of saving time and effort, as any asymmetric elements can simply be added later.

Week 4: Behind the Scenes: Roto of Man Running

This week, we learned about roto’s tools. In class, the teacher showed us how to use roto to cut out the running characters in the video. This is a tool that we can use in the future to deduct things and people from videos. This project requires a lot of patience and care to complete.

Week 4: Behind the Scenes: Hot air balloon 2

In this class, I redesigned and made the hot air balloon model, and gave more details to the hot air balloon. The making of rope models and various materials learned in the last class are applied to this model. And I used the bend function in the hot air balloon to add a ladder to it. And the soft selection function was used to adjust the details of the ladder and hot air balloon, so that they are more close and there are indentations.

Week 4: Experimental short film Analysis —— Phosphorus

This week, we’ve looked at abstraction in film, covering two main categories. Formal abstraction: means that abstract elements relate to formal aspects of the medium, such as films where tape is scratched after shooting for effect. Conceptual abstraction: means dealing with the abstraction of concepts and ideas, and while it doesn’t necessarily mess with the form of the medium, it uses the language of the medium to try to portray something conceptual, such as fear or nightmares.

Categorization: I think of it as Formative abstraction. Under the lights of the theater, a speck of dust becomes a genie in classical music, performs a ballet, and eventually becomes a star.

The technical ability to draw the dancing figure at different angles as the camera moved during the scene on stage is exquisite! An aesthetic masterpiece and a beautifully made film with a professional finish. The excellent music, the perfect animation shot and the rhythm of the music blend to let the audience look unforgettable.

Week 3: Film Analysis —— UP(2009)

The film centers on Carl Fredricksen, an elderly widower and Russell, a Wilderness Explorer who goes on a journey to South America, in order to fulfill a promise that Carl made to his late wife Ellie. Along the way, they meet a talking dog named Dug and encounter a giant bird named Kevin, who is being hunted by the explorer Charles Muntz , whom Carl had idolized in childhood.

Hero: Cane Frederisksen
Mentor: Russel
Threshold Guardian: Carl and his wife Allie have a common desire – to South America lost “Paradise Falls” adventure.
Herald: The balloon lifted Carl’s house flat and flew into the air together
Shadow: Ellie
Trickster: Charles Muntz, Beta, Gamma,Alpha

Week 3: Behind the Scenes: Nuke basic exercises

This week, our teacher introduced the interface of nuke and its working principle to us after appreciating the homework of last week. Three years ago, I briefly learned the software nuke. But later on, I used After Effects a lot, so I forgot some of nuke’s features. However, after the teacher’s explanation, my memory was awakened and I became proficient quickly. I like the working principle of nuke. The form of arrow flow chart makes the whole project file clear, which is very convenient for us to check.
