Week 3: Behind the Scenes: Bottle & Hot air balloon

In-class exercises with a bottle, cups, and liquids in cups. Through this exercise, we learned the EP curve tool drawing method to make wine glasses and wine bottles. And through this exercise, we also learned about different liquids, different materials of glass.

In the second half of the class we started making models of hot air balloons. This model is for use later in nuke’s course. This model is a bit difficult, and there are many adjustments that need to be made. After the class, we added the uv and adjusted some details.

Week 2:Short Video Work: City

Our project this week is to make a short video about what “city” means to us. This is a theme that I have been working on for some time in my personal work, and when I was shooting, I found that the red double-decker bus is very distinctive to London. So I decided to focus on this theme by photographing public Spaces related to transit in London. I also wanted to try to connect it as seamlessly as possible, because moving through a well-designed city is very seamless.

Week 2 Lego

This lesson is a continuation of consolidating knowledge of simple modelling in maya. By learning the basic command operations of the software, I gained a better understanding of the model and a better grasp of the structure. The teacher continued to walk us through the interface menus and learned about each scroll bar.

The most rewarding part of learning to model this LEGO model was the special copy, I realised that I could adjust the parameters by xyz and that ctrl+shift+D (special copy) is a very good tool to use.

And we explored different types of modelling building low and high resolution models
And basic environments. A brief study of UV set-up and texturing.

Week 1 Nuke Homework

We didn’t actually start learning about the Nuke program itself this week. Instead, we began to study the development of film language in the class. Specifically, we talked about shot composition, camera angles, lighting, and lenses. Since I have a bachelor’s degree in film studies, I’m already well-versed in most of the topics, but from a technical point of view such as green screen overflow, the technical talks about shots and how lighting works in scenes are very interesting to me.

Our assignment this week is a photography assignment about time. The teacher asked not to photograph the clock to express the passage of time.

WEEK 1

In the first class today, the teacher first told us what critical writing is and its process. And it solidified its definition and tested the topic for us to write about.

We also came up with the theme of raising topics, although I found this difficult because I wasn’t sure what the course itself was going to teach us. I don’t know what else this course will be spent discussing and learning. With some of the team members,

Week 1 Maya

As our first lesson here, we start with the most basic functions. We learned about shortcuts, mouse operation. Low quality display: “1”, medium quality display: “2”, high quality display: “3”, display grid: “4 “, solid display mode: “5”, material and solid display mode: “6”, display light: “7”, switch objects. “F8”, storing keyframes for the zoom channel: “Shift+R”

Hide the selected object: “Ctrl+H”, Show last hidden object: “Ctrl+Shift+H”, Copy alternative object: “Shift+D”, Convert view: “Alt+Right mouse button”, Move view: “Alt+Middle mouse button”, Zoom view: “Alt+Right+Middle mouse button”

New scene: “Ctrl+N”, Open scene: “Ctrl+O”, Save scene: “Ctrl+S”, Move: ” M”, zoom tool: “R”, set keyframe: “S”

Interface operation, left hand always press ALT right hand left key rotation, middle key translation, right key or pulley down shrink

directly in the blank interface Shift + right click, such a shortcut will be much faster than clicking to create the basic geometry

After creating a new object, object on the long press the right mouse button to move, we will see that there can be a selection of points, edges and surfaces to operate
point level shift + right click, we have to operate on the point, “add point” minus point blow up merge and so on, note that add point with object level shift + right click left direction
Face level shift + right mouse button, the face of the merger, multi-cut, delete, extrusion, etc., to extract the edge copy, bridge, etc.

Then we learnt how to download materials, HDRls and models in poly haven. And a brief lesson on the Arnold renderer and lighting.
